It is becoming apparent that the COVID-19 crisis is impacting our beautiful North Shore communities more significantly than originally thought. Therefore the Board has made the reluctant decision to suspend choir rehearsals on Tuesday nights for the next four Tuesdays, that is March 17, 24, 31 and April 7. The Board will make a decision the first week in April whether to re-commence meeting on Tuesday April 14 with the hope of extending our season into the month of June. Our Music Director will not be available after June 20th. The Board is committed to making this happen and is currently negotiating for rehearsal and performance space
Outreach Concerts for May 5, 12 and 19 are being cancelled because the choir will not be ready to perform and Care Centres are currently locked down. Efforts are being made to rebook the concerts but it will depend on how long the care home lockdowns last. It is possible there will be no outreach performances if the lockdowns are extended.
The Board has taken this step after reviewing recommendations by the Coastal Health Authority and as alway, putting the health and well being of our members first. Please use this down time to continue with the practice of our repertoire so that we are ready to resume when circumstances allow. Please feel free to contact any member of the Board with any concerns. Remember to wash your hands and limit personal contact as much as possible and KEEP SINGING!
Thank you to everyone who has contributed their input in this matter.
We are especially grateful to Annabelle, our Music Director for being an active member of our discussion and for her flexibility in extending our term beyond what is usual, to June 20. Thank you also to Lorna, our accompanist for being available to June 20.
Joyful music has brought our wonderful Carousel Chorus group together and keeps us vibrant, strong, committed and calm. We look forward to coming together soon. In the meantime, look after yourselves and your families.
